WHAT HAPPNED AT #UOC? [Thread]
1/ During the Clash with Law-Enforcement, members of Inter University Students' Federation (IUSF) ventured into University Of Colombo (UOC) with the assumption that it was a safe haven. However, the reality was far from what they expected. #lka
2/ On a Political Context: IUSF has little to no influence as a student union at University of Colombo (UOC), especially at the Faculty of Law. #lka
3/ Shockingly, IUSF members resorted to pelting stones at the Police from within Colombo University premises. #lka
4/ In response, Police took the bait, deployed tear gas and called in the Army to flush them them out of the University. #lka
5/ Unbeknownst to Police, innocent students who were attending lectures got caught in the crossfire and sustained injuries. #lka
It's a game of cat and mouse to the IUSF led by the Front Line Socialist Party (FSP) , with them winning this time around thanks to the sheer negligence of Police. However, it's not a win-win situation for them as violence and disruptive actions too have consequences. #lka
Hey everyone, just wanted to clarify something - as journalists, our job is to report the facts, plain and simple. That means we don't take sides, whether it's the government or the protesters. We just report what's happening. And of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinions - that's what makes this world interesting!

The sentiment expressed in this quote by George Orwell- is it really a comprehensive definition of journalism?
Personally, I don't think so. While it's true that journalists often uncover information that people in power would prefer to keep hidden, that's not the only purpose of journalism. To me, the essence of journalism is about telling the story of who we are as a society - and doing so with precision, transparency, and impact.
Of course, there will be times when that means shining a light on things that some people would rather not see, but that's not the only measure of good journalism. Ultimately, it's about providing accurate, insightful, and engaging coverage of the issues that matter most to us all.
මම මඩ ගසනවා යැයි චෝදනා කරමින් මට උත්තර දෙන්න භාවිත කළ “බටර් නැත්තං පාන් වෙනුවට බනිස් කාපං” වැනි ඉතාම සරළ තර්ක ක්‍රමයක උත්තර දීම් සඳහා, ඒ ආකාරයෙන්ම ඒ තර්ක ක්‍රමය යොදා ගනිමින් මට නගන චෝදනා වලට මම මෙහෙම උත්තර දෙන්නම්.
01. ඔය මඩනෙ....ඔය පරණ ඉතිහාස කතා දැන් අදාල නැහැනෙ. දැන් ඒවා කතා කරන එකේ තියෙන ප්‍රයෝජනය මොකද්ද? මේ ආණ්ඩුවේ මර්දනයට විරුද්ධ වෙන දේශපාලන පක්ෂය ගැන කතාවක්නෙ දැන් තියෙන්නේ....
පිළිතුර - හරි. එහෙමනම් අපි ජ.වි.පෙ ඉතිහාස කතා විතරක් නෙවෙයි හැමෝටම සාධාරණයක් වෙන්න. හැමෝගෙම ඉතිහාස කතා පැත්තකින් තියමු. කාගෙවත් ඉතිහාස කතා දැන් වැඩක් නැහැ. ඉස්සර විරුද්ධවාදීන් ඝාතනය කරපු, මැතිවරණ කඩාකප්පල් කරපු, බැංකු කඩපු ඉතිහාස කතා වගේම පරණ දූෂණ වංචා කතා, බැඳුම්කර වංචා කතා, බටලන්ද කතා දැන් වැඩක් නැහැ. ඒ සේරම පැත්තකින් තියමු.
ඒවගේම එතකොට කලින් ආණ්ඩු කරපු පරණ කතා අවශ්‍යයත් නැහැ. එතකොට කවුරුවත් මීට කලින් ආණ්ඩු කරලා පිස්සු කෙළලා නැහැ. සේරම සමානයින්. එතකොට කියන්න පුළුවන් “උනුත් එකයි. මුනුත් එකයි. අපිත් එකයි” කියලා.
02. ජර්මනියේ දැන් හිට්ලර් නැහැනෙ.....දැන් ජර්මනියේ කවුද හිට්ලර් ගැන කතා කරන්නේ? ඒවා වැඩක් නැහැ කියලා ජර්මනියේ අලුත් පරම්පරා දන්නවා.
පිළිතුර - ඇත්ත නේන්නම්. දෙවන ලෝක යුද්ධය අවසන් වෙනකොට හිට්ලර්ගෙ ගැංසියම මැරුවා. කිහිප දෙනෙක් රටින් පැනලා ගිහින් රහසිගතව ජීවත් වුනා. ඒ අයවත් අවුරුදු ගණන් ගිහිල්ලත් අල්ලගෙන ඇවිත් නියුරම්බර්ග්වල නඩු දැම්මා. යුද්ධය අවසානයේ හිට්ලර්ව මැරුවා නැත්නම් සිය දිවි නසා ගත්තා කියනවා.
මෙහෙ ප්‍රශ්නේ හිට්ලර් පැටව් ටිකක් තාම ඉන්න එක. ඒ අය තාම ඉල්මහ විරුවන් කියලා හිට්ලර් වර්ගයේ ඝාතකයින්ව වීරයින් කියලා සමරණවා. ජර්මනියේ නැහැයි කියන, මෙහෙ තියෙන ප්‍රශ්නය ඒකනේ.
(මේ දුක්ගන්නාරාළලා නොදන්නවාට දැන් ජර්මනියේ විතරක් නෙවෙයි, යුරෝපයේ රටවල් ගණනාවක නව නාසි පක්ෂ සහ කණ්ඩායම් ක්‍රියාත්මක වෙනවා - (මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් කියවන්න - Counteraction to manifestations of neo-Nazism and right-wing extremism)
03. මෙදා තරග කරන්නේ ජ.වි.පෙ නෙවෙයි. මෙදා තරග ගරන්නේ ජාතික ජන බලවේගය (ජා.ජ.බ). ඒක අලුත් දේශපාලන පෙරමුණක්
පිළිතුර - හොඳ තර්කයක්. ජාතික ජන බලවේගය (ජා.ජ.බ) කියන්නේ ජ.වි.පෙ නෙවෙයි. අලුත් පක්ෂයක්. සමගි ජන බලවේගය (ස.ජ.බ) වගේ. ස.ජ.බ කියන්නේ යූ.ඇන්.පිය නෙවෙයිනෙ. අලුත් පක්ෂයක්.
04. ජා.ජ.බ කවදාවත් ආණ්ඩු කරලා නැහැනේ. අනෙක් අය සේරම ආණ්ඩු කරලා අසාර්ථකයි. ඒ නිසා මේ සැරේ ජා.ජ.බට ආණ්ඩු බලය දීලා බලන්න වටිනවා.
පිළිතුර - ජා.ජ.බ කවදාවත් ආණ්ඩු කරලා නැහැ වගේ ස.ජ.බත් කවදාවත් ආණ්ඩු කරලා නැහැනේ. මෙදා ඒ දෙගොල්ලොම ඉන්නේ විපක්ෂයේ නේ. ස.ජ.බට වැඩි බලයක් තියෙන නිසා ඉස්සෙල්ලා එක වරක් ස.ජ.බට ආණ්ඩු බලය දීලා බලමු. මේ දේශපාලන තර්ක ක්‍රමය ඉදිරිපත් කරන ජා.ජ.බට ඒ වෙනුවෙන් දෙවන වාරයේ දීලා බලමු.
