Perhaps, this could be the beginning of a mid-term plan towards fielding a Common Candidate, after realizing that individual party candidates will not stand a chance to win a Presidential election, upon testing the waters by holding rallies throughout the country and being tired of street protests. මෙහි සාධනීය ලක්ෂණ ඇත. බැලූ බැල්මට පොහොට්ටුවේ නොවන සියලු දේශපාලන පක්ෂ හා ධාරාවන් මෙහි නිසි ලෙස නියෝජනය වේ. දේශපාලන පක්ෂයක් නොවුවත්, පාලනයේදී වැදගත් ගාමක බලවේගයක් වන බෞද්ධ නොවන නමුත් ජාත්‍යන්තර ව බලවත් ආගමික බලවේගයක් ද අනුපාතයට වඩාත් මෙහි නියෝජනය වේ. එම බලවේගයේ නායකයා ආන්දෝලනාත්මක කෙනෙකු වූවත්, සුළුතර ආගමික කණ්ඩායමක නියෝජනයක් මෙවැනි කණ්ඩායමක තිබීම සාධනීය දෙයකි.
සුමන්දිරන් මහතා ට සමස්ත දෙමළ ප්‍රජාව නියෝජනය කළ හැකිද මගේ ද යන්න මා හරියටම නොදන්නා නමුත්, ඔහු ඉදිරිපෙළ ම වාඩි වී සිටීම සාධනීය දෙයකි. සුමන්දිරන් මහතා තුළින් කුඩා ප්‍රොතෙස්තන්ත කණ්ඩායමක් නියෝජනයක් වීම මට සතුටට කරුණකි.
බොහෝවිට, පොදු අපේක්ෂකයා ද එවැනි නියෝජනය ක නියෝජිතයෙක් ද විය හැකි යැයි දේශපාලනික වශයෙන් සමපේක්ෂණය කළ හැක.
දේශපාලනය මැජික් විජ්ජාවක් නොවන අතර, කළු තොප්පිය යට ඉන්න හාවා කවුරුන් ද යන්න හිතා ගැනීම ඒ හැටි අපහසු නොවේ. 2015 බල මාරු සූපවේදයේ භාවිතා කළ වට්ටෝරුව ම තරමක් එහා මෙහා කොට, රම්පෙ කරපිංචා වෙනුවට සේජ්-තයිම් වැනි දෙයක් දමා ඇති බව පෙනේ.
මෙය බලමාරු ව්‍යාපෘතියක නම්, ඊට ඉන්දියානු හා අමෙරිකානු සහාය ඊට ලැබේ නම්, ජවිපෙ තම පක්ෂ අපේක්ෂකයාට අගමැති සිහිනයක් මවා ජනාධිපතිවරනයෙන් ඔහු ව ඉවත් කරන්නේ නම්, මෙය ඉතාමත් සැලකිය යුතු දේශපාලන ගමනක පියවර විය හැක.
පෞද්ගලික ව මම මෙවැනි ව්‍යාපෘතිවලට කැමති ය. මීට කලින් මෙවැනි ව්‍යාපෘතියක මට තරමක අත්දැකීම් ඇත. මා මෙවැනි ව්‍යාපෘති වලට කැමති වන්නේ, දේශපාලන දිශානතිය තීන්දු කරන්නේ ජනතාව යැයි කියා, ඔවුන්ව ගොනාට අන්දවා, පාරට බස්සවා, ඔවුනට ස්නානය කරන්නට පහසුකම් ලබා දෙනවාට වඩා, මෙවැනි නූල් සුත්තර වැඩ දේශපාලනයේ නියම ස්වරූපය බව වයසට යන විට මට තේරුම් ගොස් ඇති බැවිනි.

For me, it’s a pretty good development. From the looks of the folks seated here, they represent a large section of oppositional parties, except pohottuwa as part of it seems oppositional. I am not sure of Ranawaka’s group is represented here or not. What’s clear though is the disproportionate representation of a particular minority religion, which, for me is a positive feature, though the political integrity of the leader of it is highly questionable.
It's great to see Sumanthiran in the front row though I am not sure if he represents the diversity within the broader Tamil political alliance he is part of. I am pleased to see Sumanthiran as he also comes from a small minority religious denomination.
Given these positively odd and admirably unconventional assortment of forces, one can speculate that the eventual Common Candidate would also come from a similar root. For politics is not a magic show, it’s not hard for one to guess the rabbit languishing under the black hat.
It seems that these folks and their sponsors and promoters have chosen the same recipe used to cook the dish of regime change in 2015, perhaps replacing rampe-karapincha with sage-thyme. While the political parties can be the spices of the dish to be cooked, the main ingredients would be the US-meat and Indian-vegetables. Giving JVP a carrot of a future PM post to withdraw their individual candidacy would be the pertinent stock in which the meat and vegetables can be boiled while adding some spices of oppositional political parties with moderate proportions.
Personally, I prefer these ventures. In fact, I have a little bit of experience in one such venture in 2015. Such ventures are far better than hoodwinking the people by saying it is they who will decide the destiny of politics. Sadly, I have come to this realization while I am fast losing my hair and the left overs are getting gray.

දේශපාලනය දිහා බලා ඉන්න කෙනෙක් හැටියටයි මා මෙය කීවේ. මෙය සාස්තරයක් නොව සමපේක්ෂණයක් (speculation) පමණි. මේ බව මා මේ දැන් කිව්වේ, 1990 මා නීති විද්‍යාලයේ සිටින විට අපට වඩා අවුරුද්දක් ජේෂ්ඨ Saliya Pieris මහතා මා දුරකථනයෙන් ඇමතූ අවස්ථාවේ ය. අවුරුදු තිස්තුනක් පමණ කාලයක් තිස්සේ දන්නා හඳුනන සාලිය සමග යමක් සුහදව කතාබහ කර ගත හැක. මගේ සටහනේ ඉංග්‍රීසි අනුවාදයේ තිබූ sponsors හා promoters ජන ප්‍රකාශය ගැන ඔහු මට පහදා දුන් අතර එවන් පිටස්තර කණ්ඩායමක් මේ ක්‍රියාදාමයේ නැති බව සාලිය මට තහවුරු කළේය.
සාලිය ගැන මට ඇති විශ්වාසයත් ගෞරවයත් හේතුවෙන් ඒ වචන දෙක මගේ සටහනෙන් කපා හැරියෙමි. යමක් පැහැදිලි කර ගැනීමට නිරාකරණය කර ගැනීමට සංවාදය තරම් හොඳ දෙයක් නැති බව සාලියත් සමඟ මා කළ කතාබහ අවසානයේදී මට අවබෝධ විය.
